Hey everyone, welcome to another edition of the daily gaming news. Here I'll be discussing all the latest goings-on in the gaming industry, from new releases to game announcements and everything in between. So without further ado, let's get started!

Epic vs Apple Ruling

There's been an update regarding the Epic versus Apple lawsuit. There was a tweet from Tim Sweeney, who is the founder and CEO of Epic Games. He says "today's ruling isn't a win for developers or for consumers. Epic is fighting for fair competition among in-app payment methods and app stores for a billion consumers." And then he linked to a snippet from (Apple's response to) the ruling. It said "Today the court has affirmed what we've known all along. The App Store is not in violation of antitrust law. As the court recognized, success is not illegal. Apple faces rigorous competition in every segment in which we do business, and we believe customers and developers use us because our products and services are the best in the world. We remain committed to ensuring the App Store is a safe and trusted marketplace that supports a thriving developer community and more than 2.1 million US jobs and where rules apply equally to everyone." And then Tim Sweeney also tweeted "Fortnite will return to the iOS App store when and where Epic can offer in-app payment in fair competition with Apple in-app payment, passing on the savings to consumers." Now, obviously, I'm speaking from a non-lawyer point of view. I'm just a normal dude. But basically from this, I think it's ugly. I think like I said before, I said it some weeks ago, no one wins in the lawsuit because simply Apple can claim they won because they can say as we've proven we haven't violated any antitrust laws, but Epic can claim they won because the judge has said that third party developers must be allowed to put their payment systems onto the App store. And there's other bits to it as well such as Epic has actually been ordered to pay Apple, I think part of their legal fees totaling something like $12 million. But obviously these are multibillion dollar corporations. In Apple's case, nearly a trillion dollars, or maybe more than a trillion at this point. To Epic Games, I think they've spent more money giving away free games on the Epic game store, so they could claim also victory for that, like what's $12 million to them. It's literally nothing. It's one of those things. It's ugly. There's no winners from this situation. And the thing that people are missing from the equation is that there is still the appeal process that both companies have yet to go through. We have to wait and see. I wouldn't say that this is done and finished. We have to just wait and see. But this is the latest update that has been put out about the lawsuit.

Bayonetta 3

And then the next bit of news for today is Bayonetta 3 is still in development. Platinum Games have said they're very proud of the progress made. There was a teaser for the game back in 2017. It's been four years already and we've not basically heard nothing since but Platinum Games have said they're very happy with the progress of the game so far, and we just have to wait and see what they've been working on all this time for Bayonetta 3. Hopefully, sooner than later we'll get an update about it.

Life is Strange True Colors Twitch Extension

And then the last bit of news for today is I started playing Life is Strange True Colors yesterday, and the extension that Square Enix has developed for the game is actually really, really good. What it allows you to do it allows the audience on Twitch to vote for key decisions in the game. You can go for "full democracy" mode, which basically means that whatever your viewers say goes simple as that, or you can put it on "suggestion only", which means simply you see what your viewers would like, but ultimately you as the streamer, make the final decision about what choices you will make. Graphically, it looks incredible. It's a shame that I've had to mute copyrighted music because simply, you know that's the life of a content creator. If I want to monetize or put it on YouTube, then it has to be without Copyright. Some key moments in the game are already being spoiled with silent air guitar and stuff like that. But whatever that's just that's life and I would highly recommend the game. Life is Strange True Colors highly recommended. And also thank you to Square Enix for gifting me a copy of the game to play for everyone.
