Video Transcript

World of Warcraft will be going offline on Tuesday evening in China because of a dispute with the local partner NetEase. In Chinese local law, you have to partner with a local Chinese firm if you want to bring foreign games into the country. That partnership has been successful since 2008 but they've not been able to negotiate a renewal for it. Blizzard asked NetEase to support Warcraft until they find a new partner, but NetEase took that as a huge insult to a point where there's even a video of them tearing down the Warcraft statue outside the NetEase headquarters. If you're playing World of Warcraft in China, unfortunately the game is going to go offline until Blizzard is able to secure a new partner.
