The release window of Outward 2 has been announced. The game will build on the same mechanics from the first game, including split screen and online co op. No handholding, which means no quest markers, no character position on the map. You have to work it out yourself. Apparently there will also be a playtest on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The release window for Outward 2 is Summer 2026. When we know the actual release date, I'll be sure to mention it on the Gaming News. Did you play the first Outward game? And the next bit of news for today is according to an article on Insider Gaming, apparently a new big budget The Lord of the Rings game is in development. Apparently the game is being funded by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and will have a budget of about $100 million. When there's any more information about the game, including a trailer or release date, I'll be sure to mention it on the Gaming News. Which The Lord of the Rings game do you like the most? And the last bit of news for today is gameplay for Thief VR Legacy of Shadow has been released. It shows the Thief style gameplay in a VR setting. The difference with VR gaming, if you haven't tried it before, is when you put the headset on it's like you're in the game. It's a very different experience from playing a game with a controller or looking at a screen. It means as well you can be more physical with your actions. I recently did a full review of the Meta Quest headset, which Thief VR will be coming out on. It will also be coming out on PlayStation VR 2 and SteamVR.
