Hey everyone, welcome to another edition of the daily gaming news. Here I'll be discussing all the latest goings-on in the gaming industry, from new releases to game announcements and everything in between. So without further ado, let's get started!
Ubisoft Staff Open Letter
Ubisoft staff have sent an open letter to their management over handling of discrimination within their own company, mostly inspired by the staged walkout from the Activision Blizzard staff that we've seen in the last day or so. There has been harassment issues going on at Ubisoft for a while now, which I have covered in previous episodes. And basically it's not going to go away simple, except obviously Ubisoft are based in different countries. So hopefully the staff for all these companies and if there's any other companies involved with their own issues or just speak up. We need to just get this problem rooted out in the gaming industry, that's for sure. So again, good on you. Ubisoft staff, good on you Activision. Blizzard staff, keep it up. I'm really, really proud of you.
PlayStation 5 Amazing Sales
The next bit of news for today is the PlayStation 5 has done really well. They sold more than 10,000,000 units, and basically they can't keep up with demand because there's still a global chip shortage. The US administration and President Biden are trying to help alleviate that by making some of the chips in the US it's not all going to be based in Taiwan and the Far East in the next couple of years, but it'll take a couple of years before those facilities are set up, but they don't want these problems to happen again. And basically with that, the PlayStation 5 exclusive games like Marvel Spiderman Miles Morales, and Ratchet and Clank and stuff like that, have all sold more than a million copies, except for Returnal, which shifted something like 560,000 units. But they're still pretty good. And the developer Housemarque is now part of Sony Studios. Sony bought the studio that made Returnal. Basically things are going really well for PlayStation at the moment. And I have made a video as well talking about how much I love my PlayStation 5. That's not just me kissing Sony's butt. The PlayStation 5 is the best console they've ever made. (in my opinion) I love it. The games on it are really high quality and so on. And the controller is especially nice. Hopefully good things will keep happening.
Kena Bridge of Spirits Delayed
And then the last bit of news for today is Kena Bridge of Spirits, which I'm really looking forward to being developed by Ember Labs, has been delayed a few weeks until September, so it was going to come out in August next month, but it's been delayed a few more weeks for extra polish. I'm all for it rather than it launching broken and then being needed to fix over time. *cough* Cyberpunk *cough* it's better that polish happens from now because the game looks fantastic already from the trailers. If you haven't seen it, look it up. Kena Bridge of Spirits, look up the trailers, see what you think of it. And I am very much looking forward to that as well.
Conclusion
