ELDEN RING ON STEAM! Google Wanted To Buy Epic...

2023 2022 2021 | Dec Nov Oct Sep Aug Jul Next Previous

Hey everyone, welcome to another edition of the daily gaming news. Here I'll be discussing all the latest goings-on in the gaming industry, from new releases to game announcements and everything in between. So without further ado, let's get started!

Elden Ring on Steam

Elden Ring has now appeared on Steam. In case you want to go on there and wish list the game, and there's more information about the game, the some screenshots and some things like that. And it's still stated for a release on 20 Jan 2022, fingers crossed. It will not be delayed.

Google Wanted To Buy Epic Games

The next bit of news for today is Google reportedly wanted to buy Epic Games, and the reason why it was brought up is because of the ongoing lawsuit between Apple and Epic Games that's going on at the moment. The short version of the lawsuit is that the Fortnite app was removed from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store because they were trying to circumvent the payment systems on both platforms. And basically Epic are now saying that Google wanted to buy for games to stifle and stop any competition. They wanted to buy the company so that they would force their payment system onto the app. Again, we'll see what happens with this lawsuit. I personally just think that there's no winners in this lawsuit. I regardless of who comes out better in court, no one wins. But we will see what happens in the long run.

Epic Games Store Free Game

And then the last bit of news for today is talking about Epic, the Epic Games Store is going to give out another free game between, I think, from the 12 Aug 2021 called Rebel Galaxy, which will replace A Plague Tale Innocence. So I would really recommend to redeem A Plague Tale Innocence. You still have a few more days to do that, but it's a case of when you redeem a game on Epic Game Store. It's yours for free forever. It'll be added to your account, but you have to redeem it and you have to add it. You can't download it for free forever without redeeming it. And the reason why they do that is because simply they want more people to visit the Epic Games Store and be on it, because obviously they have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to trying to compete with Steam, if ever, and also as well the developers behind the game do get paid when you redeem a game for free. So you redeem the game for free and then Epic buy the game you from the developer. And the reason that they do that is I talked about it for yesterday is one is a tax write off for them, and two, it just gets more people onto the Epic Game Store. So if you're thinking about it from the business point of view of why do Epic games give out free games? Simple as that.

That's all for my roundup of the latest gaming news. What do you think? Are any of these stories big deals in your opinion? Let me know by leaving a comment on the video. And don't forget to check back tomorrow for more exciting gaming news!
