Hey everyone, welcome to another edition of the daily gaming news. Here I'll be discussing all the latest goings-on in the gaming industry, from new releases to game announcements and everything in between. So without further ado, let's get started!
Battlefield 2042 Open Beta
The open beta of Battlefield 2042 will be happening between 08 to 09 October 2021. And if you have an active subscription to EA Play, which is included as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, if you have that as well, you'll be able to jump in two days earlier from 06 October. If you want to give it a go and you want to try out Battlefield 2042 before release, know that that's coming in the next couple of weeks.
Netflix Acquires Night School Studio
The next bit of news for today is Netflix has acquired Night School Studio, who is the developer behind such games as Oxenfree and Afterparty. Night School Studio is made up of former employees of Telltale Games before it shut down and they make games which have intriguing stories. And Netflix decided that that was a studio that would fit in with their goals of everything because of the amount of TV shows which have interesting stories in it and so on. And it's their first step towards working in gaming. We'll see how that turns out in the future.
Xbox Cloud Gaming
And then the last bit of news for today is Microsoft is actually testing Cloud Gaming on the Xbox consoles now. What cloud gaming basically is, is that you play the games on their servers but the output of the game, the graphics and everything is streamed through the Internet to your console. What that will allow you to do is play all these games which are available on the Xbox library in the Xbox Game Pass and so on without having to technically download it. However, I would say from experience it's based on the speed of your Internet connection and how close you are to the servers of that provide the cloud gaming. You could have the quickest Internet, you know, you could have like fiber, multi gigabits a second and so on. But if you're the other side of the world to the cloud servers and you're still not going to get the best performance. Generally my opinion about it is it's that it can work quite well if the system you have locally is really weak. It might be good for Xbox Series S users. But when your local machine is very, very powerful, let's say you have a powerful, really powerful PC with the latest graphics card or you have the Xbox Series X. It might be better for you to just download the game locally, but know that that's a thing that they're working on simple as that. And in the future we will see if more of these cloud streaming based game platforms become available so that eventually you can play any game on any device, even on your phone. That's what they're working towards for the future as the Internet becomes quicker and quicker and quicker.
That's all for my roundup of the latest gaming news. What do you think? Are any of these stories big deals in your opinion? Let me know by leaving a comment on the video. And don't forget to check back tomorrow for more exciting gaming news!
