Square Enix On NFTs, GoldenEye 007 Xbox Trophies, DashieGames Feature | Gaming News

GoldenEye 007 Xbox Trophies

Hello, guys, and welcome to the Gaming News for 02 Jan 2022. Wario64 tweeted out saying "An Xbox achievement list for GoldenEye 007 has popped up." And the reason why this is leading to any sort of speculation or excitement is because because there's not been any news about any James Bond game or any remaster or remake of GoldenEye 007 for a while, but this is more evidence that maybe we're going to get something. We will see. Originally, GoldenEye 007 came out more than 25 years ago on the Nintendo 64, and while some regard it as one of the best shooters of all time, it has really not aged well. Since then it's been emulated, it's been modded. Some people have added keyboard and mouse support and so on. We will see if there's any sort of official remaster coming to Xbox anytime soon.

Square Enix On NFTs

The next bit of news for today is Square Enix. President Yosuke Matsuda sent out a letter where he basically explains what he hopes for Square Enix in 2022. Part of what he talked about includes "Another term that quickly gained currency in 2021 was NFT or nonfungible token. The advent of NFTs using blockchain technology significantly increased the liquidity of digital goods, enabling the trading of a variety of such goods at high prices and sparking conversations the world over. I see 2021 not only as Metaverse year one, but also NFT's year one, given it was a year in which NFTs were met with a great deal of enthusiasm by a rapidly expanding user base." Now I think this is contrary to countries outright banning NFTs in games like I reported recently. He goes on to further explain "I realize that some people who "played to have fun", who currently form the majority of players have voiced their reservations towards these new trends and understandably so. However, I believe that there will be a certain number of people whose motivation is to "play to contribute" by which I mean to help make the game more exciting." Now I personally believe that game companies should just focus on making games and they should make them better, higher quality, push the envelope further and reduce prices. This idea of inflating prices like the £70 Final Fantasy VII Remake or you earn as you play and stuff like that. I don't know if people want that. I personally don't want it. I don't know if this is the right direction personally, but we will see what happens over time. We have to just wait and see. But I think this is contrary to a lot of people's actual belief about NFTs. I don't know anyone who has said to me ever, that NFTs are a good idea. They make a lot of money from them, they welcome them in gaming and so on. I've never heard of that ever.

DashieGames Feature

And then this week's feature and shout out is going to go to DashieGames. Dashie originally used to make skits on YouTube. He's been doing YouTube for a really long time and he has also made a gaming channel and his gaming channel is hilarious. He rages playing every game he plays and he's especially known for his Mario Maker play through and series. He did a lot of episodes for Super Mario Maker 1, and now he's working on Super Mario Maker 2. His users create frustrating levels for him just so that he can rage to them and so on. If you not heard of Dashie, be sure to check him out on YouTube. He is hilarious. I've been watching him for years and he's highly recommended. Anyway, guys, that's it for the Gaming News for this week. Thank you as always to all the new followers and I will see you tomorrow. Thanks, guys. Bye bye.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have played hundreds of games in my life and have experienced truly amazing games. As time has passed and games continue to evolve, I want to share my gaming adventures with the world so you can improve your gaming experience too.

There are several gaming franchises I love experiencing a lot such as Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, God of War, Uncharted, Yakuza, Assassin's Creed, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Xenoblade Chronicles and more.

In 1997 when I was 12 years old, a class mate of mine asked me, have you ever played Final Fantasy 7? I was like no, what’s that? He lent me his copy, and I remember on the first night I escaped Midgar after not being able to put it down for 5 to 6 hours even though it was a school night. Shortly after I finished the game and my gaming obsession was truly planted.

Towards the end of 1998 I played Zelda 64 Ocarina of Time. It was a revelation to me, given its combat, story telling, music and satisfying ending. It also gave a hint of what open world could look like given how “huge” Hyrule Field was, which was massive for the time. After nearly 25 years, Zelda 64 Ocarina of Time still sits at the top of my favourite games of all time list.

When I went to University during 2003 to 2007, it was the era of Half Life 2. I remember spending a portion of my student loan so I could get a gaming pc powerful enough to play it.

During that time I also started my adventures in MMOs including Final Fantasy 11 and World of Warcraft. It amazes me that they are still online to this day.

After leaving University, I like most people ended up in the 9 to 5 cycle, after a year of being stuck in the “no job without experience, no experience without a job”. At the time I was still living with my parents and I got distracted on girls for a while. My love for gaming never ended though, with it always being a fall back for me.

In 2013, I started my first YouTube channel, as a way to also document my time in the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. I had seen some YouTubers who made really good videos. For me, at the time, it was a hobby to do on the evening and weekends, I never went into it thinking one day it would be my job. I would have made videos, even if it made no money at all.

After 10 years of multiple jobs, living a very miserable existence in the 9 to 5 cycle, it all abruptly ended in 2018 with my disability of severe anxiety preventing me from commuting to London to work any more.

During the Pandemic, a lot of people were losing their jobs, and there was a lot more time to produce videos and play games. While growing as a content creator, I noticed my Instagram page had little to no content. One day I picked up my phone and recorded a video talking about gaming as it was my favourite hobby.

As I have now played hundreds of games and my passion has evolved for the last 30 years, I see my love for gaming lasting until the day I die. Games have made me laugh, made me cry, and everything in between. The recent price increases have definitely dampened gaming for most gamers, but I am in a privileged position as an Independent Gaming Journalist to receive a lot of games for free from developers and publishers to review.

I hope I can always bring the highest quality Gaming News every day, in digestible 1 to 1.5 minute summaries, to share the passion I have always had for it.

There is a lot more to my gaming history than what I've written above and if you want to talk to me about it feel free to pop by my Twitch Live Stream sometime and say hello!
