Hey everyone, welcome to another edition of the daily gaming news. Here I'll be discussing all the latest goings-on in the gaming industry, from new releases to game announcements and everything in between. So without further ado, let's get started!
The Last of Us Sales Spike
In a surprise to no one, The Last of Us Part 1 is seeing a massive spike in sales due to the successful launch of the TV show on HBO Max. The TV show is really high quality in my opinion. I have watched the first episode, I will continue to watch the seasons. If you're based in the UK, you can watch it on Now TV streaming service if you have the Entertainment level of membership.
GTA Online Exploit
And the next bit of news for today is players of GTA Online are being warned not to play the PC version of the game until a major security flaw is fixed. The security flaw allows bad actors to outright delete accounts, reset progress and more. Until Rockstar are able to fix it, I would say stay away from GTA Online if you're playing it on PC.
Warcraft China Offline
And the last bit of news for today is World of Warcraft will be going offline on Tuesday evening in China because of a dispute with the local partner NetEase. In Chinese local law, you have to partner with a local Chinese firm if you want to bring foreign games into the country. That partnership has been successful since 2008 but they've not been able to negotiate a renewal for it. Blizzard asked NetEase to support Warcraft until they find a new partner, but NetEase took that as a huge insult to a point where there's even a video of them tearing down the Warcraft statue outside the NetEase headquarters. If you're playing World of Warcraft in China, unfortunately the game is going to go offline until Blizzard is able to secure a new partner.
