South Korea is ending the Shutdown Law, otherwise known as the Cinderella Law, that made it illegal for children under 16 to play games between Midnight and 6 am, New World will have an Open Beta starting 09 Sep 2021, and Riders Republic has an Open Beta between now and 28 Aug 2021, with Twitch Drops enabled on my Twitch page.

ONL Opening Live Stream

Last night, Gamescom kicked off with a bang as it hosted its highly anticipated Opening Night Live event. With a runtime of over two hours, the showcase was filled with exciting announcements, exclusive previews, and thrilling surprises. As a passionate gaming enthusiast, I eagerly tuned in to witness the spectacle and soak in all the gaming goodness.

The Opening Night Live event was a visual feast, featuring stunning graphics, captivating gameplay footage, and immersive trailers. Developers and publishers from across the industry took the stage to unveil their latest projects and share their visions for the future of gaming. From AAA titles to indie gems, there was something for every gamer to get excited about.

Rather than delving into a detailed recap of the event here, I've decided to capture my raw and unfiltered reactions to the entire showcase in a dedicated video on my main gaming YouTube channel. If you're curious to see my genuine responses and thoughts on the games and announcements, I highly encourage you to check it out. It will provide a more comprehensive and engaging experience than a mere written summary.

New World Open Beta

In other news, one of the most highly anticipated MMORPGs, New World, is set to enter its Open Beta phase on September 9, 2021. This is an excellent opportunity for curious gamers to explore the game world and get a taste of what awaits them before its full release on September 28, 2021 (barring any unforeseen delays). Having had the chance to participate in the Alpha version, I found New World to be visually appealing and promising, but I'm particularly curious about its endgame content, which remains somewhat shrouded in mystery.

The Open Beta phase allows players to provide feedback, uncover any potential bugs or issues, and help the developers refine the game further. It's a chance for the community to shape the final product and ensure an immersive and enjoyable experience for all. So, if you're eager to join the New World adventure, mark your calendars and don't miss out on this last opportunity to dive into the Open Beta.

South Korea Shutdown Law Change

Shifting gears to international news, South Korea has recently made a significant change to a law commonly referred to as the Shutdown Law or the Cinderella Law. Under the previous legislation, underage players or gamers under the age of 16 were prohibited from gaming between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m. Surprisingly, this restriction was not just a guideline but an actual legal offense in South Korea.

However, in a move to respect children's rights and promote at-home education, South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, has decided to abolish this law. It is intriguing to discover such a law existed in the first place, as it seems rather extreme to make nighttime gaming illegal for children. It is worth noting that most popular websites and platforms already enforce age restrictions, such as YouTube and Twitch, typically requiring users to be at least 13 years old.

While the intentions behind the Shutdown Law were to ensure healthy sleep patterns and prevent addiction, it remains to be seen whether its repeal will have a significant impact. It raises questions about the effectiveness of such legislation and whether kids were already gaming during the restricted hours. Nonetheless, this headline caught my attention and sparked my curiosity about the overall influence of this law change.

Riders Republic Open Beta

Lastly, let's talk about Riders Republic, a highly anticipated upcoming multiplayer extreme sports game developed by Ubisoft. The game is set in an open-world environment where players can participate in various adrenaline-pumping activities such as biking, skiing, snowboarding, and wingsuit flying. To allow gamers to experience the excitement firsthand, an Open Beta has been made available until August 28, 2021.

During this Open Beta period, players can freely download and play Riders Republic on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and other platforms. It's an excellent opportunity to explore the vast and dynamic game world, engage in thrilling races and challenges, and get a taste of the heart-pounding action before the official release.

Furthermore, I'm excited to share that Ubisoft has reached out to me to enable Twitch Drops on my live stream of Riders Republic. For those unfamiliar with Twitch Drops, it's a feature that allows viewers to earn in-game rewards by watching a designated stream. In this case, by tuning into my live stream on Twitch for at least an hour, viewers will have the opportunity to redeem an exclusive in-game item—a backpack—before the game's official launch. It's an exciting collaboration that adds an extra layer of fun and interactivity to the gaming experience.

In conclusion, today's gaming news has been quite eventful and filled with intriguing updates and opportunities. The Opening Night Live event at Gamescom offered a glimpse into the future of gaming, while the Open Beta for New World provided eager players with a final chance to explore the game's potential before its full release. South Korea's decision to repeal the Shutdown Law aimed at restricting nighttime gaming for children brings forth discussions about the balance between regulation and personal freedom. Lastly, the Riders Republic Open Beta offers an exhilarating experience and a chance to score exclusive rewards through Twitch Drops.

As for me, I'm currently hard at work editing my reaction video from the Opening Night Live event, condensing over two hours of thrilling content into an engaging video for my main YouTube channel. Stay tuned, as it will be available for your viewing pleasure in the next day or so. Meanwhile, make sure to check out the Open Beta for New World and Riders Republic, as these opportunities don't come around often. Happy gaming!
