FFXIV Suspends Sales Again, Splinter Cell Remake, AC Odyssey Free Weekend | Gaming News

AC Odyssey Free Weekend

Hello, guys, and welcome to the Gaming News for 16 Dec 2021. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is going to be available for free during this weekend, so you'll be able to play it from today all the way until Monday. It'll be available on Xbox, on PC and on Stadia and on PlayStation. And any progress you make during the free weekend you'll be able to keep if you decide to take advantage of the discounts to buy the full game. If you've ever wondered about Assassin's Creed Odyssey, know, that is available for free for the next couple of days.

Splinter Cell Remake

The next bit of news for today is Ubisoft have announced that they're going to be remaking the original Splinter Cell game, which came out 19 years ago. They put on their website, "Ubisoft has green lit the development of a Splinter Cell remake that will draw from the rich canvas of the brand. Led by Ubisoft Toronto The game will be rebuilt from the ground up using Ubisoft's own Snowdrop engine, the same engine being used to develop Avatar Frontiers of Pandora as well as Ubisoft's upcoming Star Wars game to deliver new generation visuals and gameplay, and the dynamic lighting and shadows the series is known for." Splinter Cell is a stealth game. When they're talking about shadows, it's important because basically you need to hide in the shadows for a lot of the gameplay. Also, as well, when it first came out 19 years ago, I loved it. I thought it was amazing. I'm very glad it's being remade. Also on the website they have posted a full interview of why it's a remake and not just a remaster. It was a very interesting read. I would recommend to see what else they say.

FFXIV Suspends Sales Again

And then the last bit of news for today is that there's been another update about Final Fantasy XIV's ongoing congestion problems, with another post on the Lodestone from the director Naoki Yoshida. To highlight some of the bits he put in. He said, "We are aware of the long wait times to log into the game that are preventing players from playing, and for this, we sincerely apologize. In response to this we recently granted seven days of game time, but now we will also be granting an additional 14 days." Because it's already been two weeks since the launch of Early Access to Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker. They're giving even more time because they haven't fixed it fully yet. And then they also said "Players are currently experiencing extremely long wait times due to the dense concentration of play hours, which far exceed our server capacity, especially during the peak times. And so we have decided to temporarily suspend the sale and delivery of the Final Fantasy 14 Starter Edition and Complete Edition. Additionally, although those with an active subscription are prioritized to log in, free trial players are unable to log in outside of late night and early morning hours, and so we will also be temporarily suspending new registrations of the free trial." And it goes even further than that. They're talking about the 2002 error. "In regards to error 2002, that occurs during login queues outside of the causes related to unstable connections, we have confirmed a bug. This bug was part of a login related program created back in FFXIV version 1.0. And thanks to the reports and tests carried out by many of our players, we were able to identify the cause of the problem. We apologize for not being able to identify the issue on our end and thank you all for submitting detailed reports regarding this matter." They're still working on it. Right now they're just doing what they can to make it easier for people who actually are paying for the game over people who aren't, which makes sense. I'm glad that they have identified the actual issue for the login error. They said that it's going to be fixed during the update Patch 6.01, which is set to come out on Tuesday. We will see if that stabilizes login. And I know that Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker has been a frustrating experience for a lot of players, but know that it's worth it from what I've seen so far. I am still playing my way through it personally, myself. I am taking my time and I'm having fun with it, so I would recommend it. Anyway, guys, that's it for the Gaming News for today. Thank you so much as always to all the new followers and I will see you tomorrow. Thanks guys, bye bye.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have played hundreds of games in my life and have experienced truly amazing games. As time has passed and games continue to evolve, I want to share my gaming adventures with the world so you can improve your gaming experience too.

There are several gaming franchises I love experiencing a lot such as Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, God of War, Uncharted, Yakuza, Assassin's Creed, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Xenoblade Chronicles and more.

In 1997 when I was 12 years old, a class mate of mine asked me, have you ever played Final Fantasy 7? I was like no, what’s that? He lent me his copy, and I remember on the first night I escaped Midgar after not being able to put it down for 5 to 6 hours even though it was a school night. Shortly after I finished the game and my gaming obsession was truly planted.

Towards the end of 1998 I played Zelda 64 Ocarina of Time. It was a revelation to me, given its combat, story telling, music and satisfying ending. It also gave a hint of what open world could look like given how “huge” Hyrule Field was, which was massive for the time. After nearly 25 years, Zelda 64 Ocarina of Time still sits at the top of my favourite games of all time list.

When I went to University during 2003 to 2007, it was the era of Half Life 2. I remember spending a portion of my student loan so I could get a gaming pc powerful enough to play it.

During that time I also started my adventures in MMOs including Final Fantasy 11 and World of Warcraft. It amazes me that they are still online to this day.

After leaving University, I like most people ended up in the 9 to 5 cycle, after a year of being stuck in the “no job without experience, no experience without a job”. At the time I was still living with my parents and I got distracted on girls for a while. My love for gaming never ended though, with it always being a fall back for me.

In 2013, I started my first YouTube channel, as a way to also document my time in the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. I had seen some YouTubers who made really good videos. For me, at the time, it was a hobby to do on the evening and weekends, I never went into it thinking one day it would be my job. I would have made videos, even if it made no money at all.

After 10 years of multiple jobs, living a very miserable existence in the 9 to 5 cycle, it all abruptly ended in 2018 with my disability of severe anxiety preventing me from commuting to London to work any more.

During the Pandemic, a lot of people were losing their jobs, and there was a lot more time to produce videos and play games. While growing as a content creator, I noticed my Instagram page had little to no content. One day I picked up my phone and recorded a video talking about gaming as it was my favourite hobby.

As I have now played hundreds of games and my passion has evolved for the last 30 years, I see my love for gaming lasting until the day I die. Games have made me laugh, made me cry, and everything in between. The recent price increases have definitely dampened gaming for most gamers, but I am in a privileged position as an Independent Gaming Journalist to receive a lot of games for free from developers and publishers to review.

I hope I can always bring the highest quality Gaming News every day, in digestible 1 to 1.5 minute summaries, to share the passion I have always had for it.

There is a lot more to my gaming history than what I've written above and if you want to talk to me about it feel free to pop by my Twitch Live Stream sometime and say hello!

I started in August 2013 as a hobby, and went full time during 2018.

Being a YouTuber, Streamer, or Content Creator is not the primary goal. I am working to enjoy my life and remain independent. I do not want to spend my life taking orders from other people.

I have 10 years commercial experience as a website and database developer that I can fall back on. I was able to develop this entire website using my experience.
