Hey everyone, welcome to another edition of the daily gaming news. Here I'll be discussing all the latest goings-on in the gaming industry, from new releases to game announcements and everything in between. So without further ado, let's get started!
Ubisoft Closing Online Services
Ubisoft are going to be shutting down the online multiplayer for several older games, especially games from the PlayStation 3 era. But some of them are really good, so it's a shame that they're shutting down. On the 01 Sep 2022 they'll be gone. But I had a lot of fun playing, for example, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Online. I thought it was really good.
Genshin Impact 2.8 Announced
The next bit of news for today is miHoYo have released a trailer for the upcoming 2.8 update for Genshin Impact, which has been called Summer Fantasia. It will include the release of new characters, updated banners and new events coming. But if you're still playing Genshin Impact and you're interested, be sure to check it out.
SGDQ 2022 Huge Success
And the last bit of news for today is Summer Games Done Quick 2022 was a huge success, raising more than $3 million for Doctors Without Borders. And the last $200,000 was raised in the last few minutes with a massive gathering of Twitch chat, which you should check out the highlight for was really special. And my highlight from the event was the TASBot, Save State run of Zelda 64 Ocarina of Time, where they manipulated the cartridge of Zelda 64 Ocarina of Time to unlock beta features and add some more updates to the game, which I thought was really amazing to watch. Be sure to check it out. I'm hoping in future years I'll be able to contribute towards the event.
