Twitch has struck a deal with the National Music Publishers Association, otherwise known as the NMPA. But the deal is not what people think, so it doesn't give license to streamers to be able to play whatever music they like on their streams. Instead, it will actually make it easier for the music publishers to detect when music is being used on the streams inadvertently rather than having to do DMCA takedowns all the time. It's actually pretty much the opposite of what streamers were hoping for. Recently I reported that Facebook Gaming has actually struck a deal with a lot of individual record labels so that they'll have a list of music that streamers can use in their streams. But Twitch is going the other way. Like Twitch is making it easier for the music publishers to strike streamers down, which is wonderful. Good job, Twitch. *Sarcastic Clap* And then the next bit of news for today is Netflix has bought Roald Dahl's estate like they've bought the complete estate, which means that they now own the rights to massive stories like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and the BFG, and also they will collect royalties on any sales of it in the future. They bought it from the family, but they haven't disclosed for how much. Netflix hasn't disclosed how much they paid, and the family haven't disclosed how much they received for it either. But what that will mean is that they'll be able to produce a lot more films, TV shows, and also games based around that content. We will see what Netflix has planned for in terms of gaming, if they will sublicense it or whatever. I guess we'll see. And then the last bit of news for today is the Halo Infinite technical preview is going to be happening this weekend from Friday the 24th, all the way until Monday, the 27 Sep 2021. People have already been receiving emails to talk about the fact that they've been selected for the technical test and that soon they'll be getting details on how to download it. So know that that's on the horizon if you're interested in that sort of content.
