Why can't I unlock flying in Yanxia immediately?

Yanxia is a two-part zone. You arrive at Level 64 to collect the field currents and do side quests, but you are then forced to leave for The Ruby Sea and Azim Steppe. You cannot unlock flying until the story returns to Yanxia at Level 67.

Yanxia is the heartland of Doma. You will visit this zone early in the Stormblood expansion (Level 64), but you will not be able to unlock flying until you return from the Azim Steppe much later (Level 67).

Since the Endwalker update (Patch 6.0), the number of field currents has been reduced to 4. You will need to find these 4 field currents and complete 5 quests to unlock flying.

Use your Aether Compass (Collection Menu) to verify these locations. You can collect all of these during your first visit (Level 64), even though you cannot fly yet.
