FFXIV Job Unlock: Gunbreaker Guide

A step-by-step guide to unlocking the Gunbreaker job in Final Fantasy XIV.

Step-by-Step Instructions

The Gunbreaker is an advanced tank job introduced in the Shadowbringers expansion. It starts immediately at Level 60 and does not require a base class.

1. Reach Level 60

You must reach **Level 60** with any other Disciple of War or Magic job. You also need to have purchased the Shadowbringers, Endwalker, or Dawntrail expansion on your account.

2. Locate God's Quiver Bow

Teleport to the main Aetheryte in **New Gridania**. The NPC **God's Quiver Bow** is located just north of the Aetheryte plaza, towards the path to Old Gridania, at coordinates **X: 11.5, Y: 11.9**.

3. Accept "The Makings of a Gunbreaker"

Speak to the NPC to accept the quest. You will be tasked with escorting a mysterious Hrothgar, which will introduce you to the job.

You will be rewarded with:

Soul of the Gunbreaker (Job Stone)
High Steel Gunblade (Level 60 Weapon)
Outsider's Attire Coffer (Level 60 Gear)

4. Equip Your Soul Crystal

Equip the **Soul of the Gunbreaker** and the Gunblade to officially switch your job. You can now open the Attire Coffer to get your starting gear.

Why Play Gunbreaker?

Gunbreaker is a fast-paced tank job that feels very similar to a DPS. It utilizes a "Cartridge" system to execute high-damage combos (Gnashing Fang) and has excellent defensive cooldowns like "Superbolide" and "Heart of Stone/Corundum." It is a great choice for players who want to tank but enjoy an active rotation.
