FFXIV Job Unlock: Astrologian Guide

A step-by-step guide to unlocking the Astrologian job in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward.

Step-by-Step Instructions

The Astrologian is one of three jobs introduced in the Heavensward expansion (along with Dark Knight and Machinist). Unlike base game jobs, it does not require a base class.

1. Reach Ishgard

Because the Astrologian guild is located within the city of Ishgard, you must progress the Main Scenario Quest until you complete "Before the Dawn" (the finale of A Realm Reborn). This allows you to enter the Heavensward expansion areas.

2. Find the Athenaeum Astrologicum

Once in Ishgard, teleport to the Aetheryte Plaza and head to the zone The Pillars. Navigate to coordinates X:15.2, Y:10.0 to find the Athenaeum Astrologicum.

3. Complete "Stairway to the Heavens"

Speak to the NPC Jannequinard. He will offer the quest "Stairway to the Heavens." Complete the cutscenes and dialogue to officially unlock the job.

You will be rewarded with:

Soul of the Astrologian (Job Stone)
Weathered Atlas (Level 30 Weapon)
Modern Astrologian attire

Starting at Level 30

Note that even though you must be Level 50 to reach Ishgard, the Astrologian job starts at Level 30. You will need to level it up in dungeons or Deep Dungeons (like Palace of the Dead) to catch up to the MSQ level.

Astrologian is a unique healer that utilizes a card system to buff party members' damage. It offers a busy, high-apm playstyle with beautiful visual effects. It allows you to swap between "Diurnal Sect" (Regen healing) and "Nocturnal Sect" (Shield healing) mechanics via its Neutral Sect ability, making it versatile in any party composition.
