FFXIV Job Unlock: Ninja Guide

A step-by-step guide to unlocking the Ninja job in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Step-by-Step Instructions

The Ninja is an advanced job that evolves from the Rogue class. It was added during the A Realm Reborn patch cycle (Patch 2.4).

1. Level Rogue to 30

Your first step is to level the **Rogue** class to Level 30. Note that Rogue is not available at character creation; you must reach level 10 with another class first to unlock it in Limsa Lominsa.

2. Complete Class Quests

You must complete all your Rogue class quests up to Level 30. The final class quest is titled "Cloying Victory". If you have not done this, the job quest will not appear.

3. Accept "Peasants by Day, Ninjas by Night"

Once you have met the requirements, speak to Jacke in the Rogues' Guild in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X: 8.1, Y: 16.1). He will introduce you to Oboro, the Ninja trainer from Doma.

You will be rewarded with:

Soul of the Ninja (Job Stone)
Ninja's Hakama (Leg Gear)

4. Equip Your Soul Crystal

Don't forget to equip the Soul of the Ninja in your equipment menu (bottom right slot). This changes your class from Rogue to Ninja and gives you access to Ninjutsu.

Why Play Ninja?

Ninja is a fast-paced Melee DPS job that brings unique utility to the party. Its defining feature is the **Mudra** system—combining hand signs (Ten, Chi, Jin) in specific orders to execute powerful Ninjutsu spells like Huton (Speed), Suiton (Water), and Raiton (Lightning). It also provides "Mug," a valuable debuff that increases the damage enemies take.
