FFXIV Tribal Quests: Ixali Unlock Guide

A complete guide to unlocking the Ixali daily crafting quests in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Step-by-Step Instructions

The Ixali are the primary **Crafting** Beast Tribe for A Realm Reborn. They are located in the North Shroud and are excellent for leveling Disciples of the Hand and Land from level 1 to 50.

1. Complete the Main Scenario Prerequisite

Before the unlock quest becomes available, you must progress through the A Realm Reborn Main Scenario until you complete the Level 41 quest "In Pursuit of the Past" (Stone Vigil).

2. Locate Scarlet in New Gridania

Once the MSQ requirement is met, switch to a Disciple of War or Magic class (initially) and head to New Gridania. Speak to the NPC Scarlet outside the Twin Adder Grand Company headquarters (X: 9.9, Y: 11.4).

3. Complete "A Bad Bladder"

Accept the quest "A Bad Bladder". This quest will direct you to the North Shroud to investigate the Ixali logging grounds. You will eventually be led to **Ehcatl** (North Shroud X: 24, Y: 22), the base of operations for the "Ehcatl Nine."

4. Begin Daily Quests

After unlocking the tribe, you will need to switch to a **Disciple of the Hand (Crafter)** or **Disciple of the Land (Gatherer)** to accept and complete the daily quests. You may need to equip specific gloves provided by the tribe to craft quest items.

Rewards

As you increase your reputation rank with the Ixali, you will unlock various rewards for purchase with **Ixali Oaknots** and Gil:

Mount: Direwolf
Minion: Wind-up Ixal
Crafting Mats: Ixali Oaknots can be exchanged for Grade IV Materia and venture tokens.
EXP: Massive experience points for Crafters below level 50.

Lore of the Ixali

The Ixali are a bird-like race native to the Twelveswood, often in conflict with Gridania. However, the faction you align with, the **Ehcatl Nine**, are outcasts who have rejected the Primal Garuda. Instead, they are obsessed with engineering and flight, seeking to build an airship to reach a legendary floating continent.
