Step-by-Step Instructions

The Viper is a fast-paced Melee DPS job introduced in the Dawntrail expansion (Patch 7.0). It starts immediately at Level 80 and does not require a base class.

1. Reach Level 80

You must reach **Level 80** with any other Disciple of War or Magic job. You also need to have purchased and registered the Dawntrail expansion on your account.

2. Locate the Worried Weaver

Teleport to the main Aetheryte in **Ul'dah - Steps of Nald**. The NPC **Worried Weaver** is located on the Sapphire Avenue Exchange at coordinates **X: 9.3, Y: 9.2**. Look for the blue quest marker.

3. Accept "Enter the Viper"

Speak to the NPC to begin the quest. You will be introduced to a Tural vidraal hunter, who will pass on the dual-blade techniques of the New World.

You will be rewarded with:

Soul of the Viper (Job Stone)
Weathered Twin Fangs (Level 80 Weapon)
Viper's Attire Coffer (Level 80 Gear)

4. Equip Your Soul Crystal

Equip the **Soul of the Viper** and the Twin Fangs to officially switch your job. You can now open the Attire Coffer to get your starting gear.

Why Play Viper?

Viper is a high-speed "Scouting" gear job that dual-wields swords which can combine into a twinblade. It focuses on rapid, flowing combos and maintaining buffs like "Hunter's Venom." It has a temporary ranged phase ("Reawakening") for burst damage and brings pure DPS to the party without utility buffs, similar to Samurai.
